<P><FONT color=blue size=4> Life is never short of surprises, not just because what's going on in the financial industry at the moment. And the 2 weeks' BJ Olympics has been a grand event of celebration and fun. But I haven't forgotten about the earthquake some 5 months ago, the 65000 people died and those who lost everything on that day, 12th May. I am grateful that I don't know any of the earthquake victims but on the other hand, those faces all seem very familiar. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4> Because of this, I have set up a project with some friends to help sponsoring children in the badly affected earthquake area to go back to school. We are working with a private organisation based in China ¨C Di Shui Gong Yi ¨C an organisation set up by Mr. Jun Wei, who is dedicated to helping children going back to school in some of the poorest areas in China. (</FONT><A href="http://www.cnbayue.com/about.asp"><FONT color=blue size=4>http://www.cnbayue.com/about.asp</FONT></A><FONT color=blue size=4>) Since May 2008, the organisation has 9 volunteers working locally in Qingchuan district, SiChuan province, offering their help to the victims wherever possible. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4> The name of the organisation - Di Shui Gong Yi, literally means a drop of water. Just as the name suggests, every little bit of help can go a long way to change a child's life forever. Our objective is to sponsor as many children as we can. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4>Your Commitment to the Child </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4> The standard cost of sponsoring one child for one school year in Sichuan province is GBP 100 (approximately RMB1200), which will also cover their basic living expenses during the school year. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4> Sponsorship will be made in your name. Or we can pool donations of various amount together to sponsor one child as well. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4>Our Commitment to You </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4> Thanks to the 9 volunteers working in the area, each and every one of our "waiting for sponsorship" children has been personally visited and verified with the school and the local education authority. Sometimes it takes whole day just to visit one person because of the road conditions. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT color=blue size=4> Your sponsorship money would be collected in a HSBC Community bank account "Back to School", registered specifically for this project. Money would be transferred as a lump sum regularly to the bank account of the local education authority in Qingchuan district. Handing over of the money to the child you are sponsoring would be supervised by "Di Shui Gong Yi" volunteers in all cases. Except for the necessary bank transfer charges, every penny in this account will be used solely for the purpose of sponsoring children back to school. </FONT></P>

If you need any assistance in communication, we would be more than happy to help you making the necessary arrangements.
